10/30/2023 – Shot while they slept

From Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 613):

How long, O Lord?
Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
Psalm‬ ‭13:1‬

My day today was filled with simple things that make me happy — an unusually warm (for an end of October) day, a meal with a family, and feeling productive with the things I never get to on weekdays. I hoped the day would end with some good news I could share here.

Unfortunately, the opposite happened. I read about nine people (including two children under the age of ten) shot down in their home in the temporarily occupied Volnovakha. They refused to give up their home to the occupational forces (Kadyrov’s soldiers). They were shot at night in their sleep.

In the evening, I read about an antisemitic riot in Makhachkala airport with hundreds of people looking for the Jews evacuated from Israel. It looked wild and scary, but it is also a logical consequence of many antisemitic statements we’ve heard from the Russian authorities over the past years.
Also, one of the Hamas leaders shared that Russia is their main partner because its attack on Israel distracted the U.S. from Russia and Ukraine, and they are hoping for China to learn from their example. These are the pieces of the same puzzle.

The world keeps going more and more insane! Lord, come, we need you!

One response to “10/30/2023 – Shot while they slept”

  1. Our Father in heaven,
    Deliver us from evil.
    Lead us not into temptation.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Hallowed be Thy name [may we recognize You as our King and obey You]
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven
For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
