11/19/2023 – Our soul waits for the Lord;he is our help and our shield.

From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 633):

Our soul waits for the Lord;
he is our help and our shield.
For our heart is glad in him,
because we trust in his holy name.
Psalm‬ ‭33:20‭-‬21‬ ‭

We have returned home. Even while on the train last night, we monitored the air raid in Ukraine. It lasted almost 8 hours as the Russians methodically launched several waves of kamikaze drones from different directions. Thankfully, our air defense shot down 29 of 38 drones, but we know that this is just the beginning.

The temperature dropped to below freezing tonight, and there was the first snowfall in the western regions of Ukraine. I saw a generator in front of one of the small local stores, which means the people are aware of the possibility of blackouts and want to be prepared.

I spent the evening giving lots of hugs to my son. When it was time to go to bed, the sirens went off, so we had to set up his bed in the hallway and pray an extra prayer for protection. Despite all this, it feels good to be home where you belong.

  1. “We know all things work together for good to those who love God, those He chose for His plan. ..they lived in dens and caves, wearing sheepskins and goat-skins, destitute, afflicted, tormented.. since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us throw off every weight and the sin that so easily entangles us and run with perseverance the race set before *us*, looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith… let those who suffer according to God’s will commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.” Romans/ Hebrews/ I Peter

    Nov.20, 2022 – Belgorod Dnestrovsky
From Lyuda (Day 260): Dear brothers and sisters, It’s so nice to have a peaceful night and our day yesterday was quiet. When we wake up with electricity we try to do all the things that need electricity very fast – vacuum cleaning, hair drying after shower, boiling water in the kettle and filling the thermos bottle, etc. We also make a supply of water, because we don’t have water regularly. But in general we are fine because we have food and everything we need. When we think about other cities that are damaged so much and people who stay in cold apartments, we understand that our life is not bad. Yesterday during the day we had electricity in our church building and our music group could have a rehearsal using all the equipment they needed. But then in the evening the electricity was turned off and we don’t know whether we will have it during the worship. We all will wear warm clothes today and will worship as usual.
It’s a very busy time for electricians who have to repair the broken objects. Very often they risk their lives doing it because there is a chance that these objects can be hit again.
When I came to the café for our group meeting yesterday, there was no electricity. But after some time when we began our meeting the electricity was given and we could order pizza.
We had a good meeting, we talked about communication and did some practical training to practice talking and doing active listening in pairs. They all enjoyed it. At the end of our meeting Sergey joined us and talked to some people while having tea.
The youth group that meets separately stays longer and young people don’t want to leave enjoying fellowship.
We are very pleased with the news about the advance of our army and we try very hard to support our military with prayer and any other help. We receive feedbacks from the soldiers whom we sent the parcels with blankets and medicines. We hope we will be able to cook for the soldiers during this coming week.

We wish you to have a good worship.

    From Lyuda (Day 272):
…November 21 is a Day of Dignity in Ukraine. We began to celebrate this day after the revolution of Dignity that started on this day 9 years ago.
..In the life of every country, as in the life of people, there may happen difficult periods. May the Lord bless all our countries and help us during trials to stand firmly on His Word with faith and hope.
    In Christ,
