11/25/2023 – A sleepless night filled with sounds of drones and explosions, but we are thankful to be alive

From: Maia Mikhaluk in Kyiv (640th day):

This is the morning when everyone in Kyiv starts a day tired after a sleepless night filled with sounds of drones and explosions, but we are thankful to be alive. This was the most massive drone attack since the start of invasion. 75 drones attacked for 6 hours in several waves between 2am and 8am, most were targeting Kyiv. 74 drones were shot by our air defense. Unfortunately there is damage to multi-storied residential buildings in several regions of Kyiv.

From Lyuda (Day 282): Dear brothers and sisters, The second day of winter is cloudy and windy, we miss the sun. We are getting used to the long electricity outings. People buy gas cookers with small gas containers to be able to cook at home. We can read a lot of advice that people share in the nets how to make their buildings and apartments warmer, how to preserve food when refrigerators don’t work, etc.

I came to our apartment and had a chat with my neighbors. It’s nice that they are not depressed and ready for winter. Our town authorities promised to do everything to provide central heating to the apartment buildings. My neighbor, Marina, who loves growing flowers in our yard, is very sociable and knows all the news. She knows the needs of other neighbors is always ready to help. She told me that her memory is not very good, but she figured out how to deal with it. She makes notes and stick them to the furniture around it helps her not to forget what she planned to do. In summer when I talked to her she complained of bad sleep at night , she worried so much about air attacks. Now she sleeps better and feels calm.

We had a Bible study with our refugee group yesterday. We talked about sufferings and what Bible says about it. We had some good discussion, all our discussions were around the war situation. This topic causes many questions because the people in our group saw and experienced many hardships. A good comfort for them was verse Hebrews 13 5-6 β€œI will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
