From Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 641):
By this I know that you delight in me:
my enemy will not shout in triumph over me.
Psalm 41:11
Almost all of Ukraine has been swallowed up by a snowstorm. Strong wind and heavy snow have caused power outages in Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Cherkasy, and Kyiv regions. They expect over 30 cm (1 foot) of snow in Kyiv by morning. Please, pray especially for those stranded on the road and those trying to keep themselves warm in houses that had been damaged by shelling. Let’s also remember all of Ukraine’s defenders in trenches — may the Lord shield and protect them.
However, we can find reasons to praise God even in the storm. Strong winds caused high waves in the Black Sea, which now rush ashore, washing away Russian mines and fortifications in Crimea and Kherson region.
One response to “11/27/2023 – By this I know that you delight in me:my enemy will not shout in triumph over me.”
From: Sergei Nakul (pastor of Big City Church in Kyiv and military chaplain) – What book of the Bible can I recommend as a book of comfort? Of course, the book of revelations! This book is not a book of scarecrows, but of immense and deep comfort for God’s people. This is how it was for Christians of the first century, and it remains so today.
Yes, in this book we read a lot about the incredible power, rage, cruelty, and sneakiness of the Dragon. The Dragon has an empire and a huge propaganda machine made up of false prophets. The Dragon has convinced himself and many in the empire that he is almighty that he controls everything that everyone needs to fear.
However, the servant of God, John, trembles not before the Dragon, and falls dead not before the Beast, but before Christ in glory. The blinding almighty glory of Christ covers it like a mighty wave, but does not destroy or crush! Christ the almighty glorious victorious Christ comforts him with the words,
“Fear not; I am the First and the Last, and liveth; and was dead, and is alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”
This is the same message that the Church of Christ should hear and now in Ukraine. After all, she is in the hand of Christ, which means that she must not tremble before the Dragon in fear, but in awe of her King Saviour. Have no fear! After all, on this almighty hand you can see the wounds of Calvary so clearly.
