708th day.
Finally, there is some good news from European allies of Ukraine!
All 27 member states of the European Union on February 1, agreed to a four-year aid package for Ukraine worth 50 billion euros, which was previously blocked by Hungary.
Hungary continues to hold on to an undisguised pro-ruzzian /anti-Ukrainian position. The downside of democracy is that marginal minority can hold hostage the majority. Thankfully, this time, EU could pass a resolution despite Orban’s resistance.
EU is tough to join – a candidate country has to prove in so many ways that it aligns with values, processes, laws, etc. But it seems it’s almost impossible to be expelled when a country does fall out of alignment with fundamental EU values and openly pushes forward interests of another country that positions itself as an enemy of the West.
