2/17/2024 – And thank God that Jesus is not Tucker Carlson, not a ruzzian soldier and not a priest and a Levite from the parable

Betrayal of Jesus

Maia Mikhaluk in Kyiv (724th day):

This morning we woke up to an official news that our troops had retreated from Avdiivka. They have been bravely defending that town for 10 years – Avdiivka was on the front lines from the beginning of the war in 2014. But since Oct 2023 ruzzians made it their focused target, initially hoping to conquer that town as a gift to putin’s birthday. Since Oct Avdiivka has been under non-stop intensive artillery shelling and aviation attacks. Only in the month of January over 300 aviation bombs were dropped by ruzzians on this small town that before the war had population of about 30,000. Ruzzians destroyed it much like they had destroyed Mariupol and Bakhmut earlier. It’s heart-breaking to see the devastation.

While we were sleeping last night there was a heated discussion under my yesterday’s FB post – one individual arguing with a number of my friends, “balancing” between claiming his sympathy for Ukraine and his firm opinion that the USA should abandon us in this fight. He ended up even defending putin as someone unknown and misunderstood. In the light of that discussion, I find a post of one of our friends, Igor Tunik, very relevant. I will quote it below. It seems easier to be “understanding” towards evil than to have to go to the expense of fighting it. Of course, arguments that it’s more beneficial to the USA to fight ruzzia at a fraction of the cost by helping Ukraine now than fighting ruzzia directly later seem to fall on deaf ears too. For some people Tucker Carlson is a more reliable expert than American military generals.

@Igor Tunik wrote on his FB page:
“– Carlson Tucker urges not to help Ukraine for it does not benefit American taxpayers and he thinks about himself and his country and should be understood. But of course he is against war!

  • Russian soldiers have families and they need to feed their children. They have a lot of debts. They think about the children and themselves. You have to understand them. But they are against war and they were sent here against their will. They are small people and nothing depends on them.

And thank God that Jesus is not Tucker Carlson, not a ruzzian soldier and not a priest and a Levite from the parable. He is a Good Samaritan who didn’t just do what didn’t benefit him by giving money, oil and wine, but He gave His life for us! It didn’t benefit Him, but it benefited us! And He teaches us to do what is not beneficial to us and to live for others and for Him, not for ourselves!!!”

— Putin’s circle has huge money thanks to his regime. If they speak against Putin, they will lose all their wealth and their lives. They think about themselves and need to be understood. They are against war, but it is not their choice. They are hostages to the situation!

— The priest and Levite in the parable of the Good Samaritan passed by the unfortunate. They had families and it is not profitable to help the wounded. They were thinking about themselves and they need to be understood.

— Surely Judas Iscariot had a family and thirty silver coins are not lying on the road! He was thinking about himself and he needs to be understood!

Jesus said: For whosoever will save his soul shall lose it, and whosoever shall lose his soul for my sake shall find it;

  1. Dear Maia,
It is so disappointing to hear from people in our circles that they are believing the lies of the propaganda here in the states! Many people are naive to the news and believe everything they hear. They are blind and do not see the situation the way it really is, because of the media that they listen to. And I agree, they probably do not want to get involved with war, something difficult.
Please join me in prayer for the Lord to open many eyes and give people the heart to do something to help with Ukraine’s effort, that their hearts will not grow cold. May God soften the hearts of our politicians and may they take the action needed right away!
    Love in Christ,
    Jill

  2. Our Father in heaven,
    Deliver us from evil.
    Lead us not into temptation.
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Give us today our daily bread.
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven [because we love You and want to please You and know what You say us best]
Hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come, for Thine IS the kingdom, the power and the glory.
