3/3/2024 – May the mother and baby, brutally killed by Russia, be a sweet fragrance to the Lord in His Kingdom, and may He comfort their grieving family.

Today’s picture – art by Oleksandra Gricina Pereira, created during the drone attack on Odesa. For to this end we toil and strive, because we have our hope set on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe. (1 Timothy 4:10)

From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 738):

‭‭The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me;
your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.
Do not forsake the work of your hands.
Psalm 138:8

Last night, Russian drones attacked Odesa. It’s almost a daily occurrence there, so it doesn’t really surprise anyone.

Last night, a Russian drone hit an apartment building in Odesa, destroying part of it. This morning, many Christians shared a prayer request for the daughter of a baptist pastor in Odesa. She and her 4-month-old baby were buried under the rubble, so everyone prayed for their rescue. Miraculously, her husband and older daughter were unharmed because they were in another room. Later today, the official news reports announced that the death toll rose to 8 people as the rescue team found the body of a mother holding her young baby in her embrace. Everyone immediately knew what this meant.

I am not sharing the picture of that family out of respect for their privacy, and I’m not sharing the image of the discovered bodies. But I will share the sketch created by my amazing friend and artist Oleksandra Hrytsyna Painter. She made this sketch last night when she heard that Odesa was under the drone attack. By God’s inspiration (I believe so), she painted a destroyed building and two magnolia flowers rising from the ashes and rubble.
May the mother and baby, brutally killed by Russia, be a sweet fragrance to the Lord in His Kingdom, and may He comfort their grieving family.

    What is your only consolation in life or death?

    Question: What is your only consolation in life and death? Answer: In soul and body, in life and in death, I belong not to myself but to my faithful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who paid for all my sins with His precious blood, delivered me from the power of the devil, and keeps me so that not a hair of my head will fall unwillingly My father who art in heaven. He makes everything in the world works for my salvation. By His Spirit, He gives me confidence in eternal life and prepares me to live for Him alone.”
