3/22/2924 – Update from Belgorod Dnestrovsky: We must stand or we will be destroyed.

From: Lyuda Betina (Day 758):

“LORD, listen to my prayer; let my cry for help come to you. Do not hide from me in my time of trouble. Pay attention to me. When I cry for help, answer me quickly. 3 My life is passing away like smoke…. But, LORD, you rule forever, and your fame goes on and on. 13 You will come and have mercy on Jerusalem” Psalm 102

It’s morning after another hard night and we pray the words of Psalm 102. The night attacks are becoming stronger and stronger. The air defense forces are trying their best to repel these attacks. But hits still happen. Last night 30 missiles were fired at Kyiv. They were all shot down, but their debris fell on the city, exploded and caused fires and destruction. One explosion occurred near the dormitory of Victoria’s son, who studies at Kiev University. A large crater was left in the ground, and all the windows in the building were broken.

And this night 90 missiles and 60 drones were fired at Ukraine. The targets of Russian terrorists were power plants and energy supply lines, a hydroelectric dam and ordinary residential buildings. Many cities in the center, east and west were affected. There was a hit on hydroelectric structures and a dam at the Dnipro Hydroelectric Power Plant. It happened in the morning when cars and public transport were driving along the dam road. In our news we see the photo of a burnt trolleybus, the people inside died. Praise the Lord, the dam was not destroyed completely.

Due to damage to the power structure, many places do not have electricity supply. Out northern city of Kharkiv is in a complete blackout. There was a warning that all parts of Ukraine should be ready for blackouts. But we are already used to the fact that all our gadgets and batteries must be charged.

This war is getting harder and harder, but we are holding on, we have no choice. We must stand or we will be destroyed.
We are expecting more refugees to come to our town. They are families from the cities which suffer the most from enemy attacks. We are so thankful to God that our little town is relatively safe and we can be active, do our ministry and help others.

The building of our Refugee Center is improving more and more and we can use it more for different purposes. The first floor is ready. We have started a new Bible study group that will meet there once a week. We are equipping a room for a group therapy and for the work with children.

The construction works are going on the second floor and another family of refugees will move there soon. Our current needs are bedding and furniture. It would be feasible to purchase these items here provided we have the necessary finances. Our counselors continue to work actively because there are many needs of people around.

This week I held a meeting with students at a local college. It’s a difficult time for studying. Lessons are interrupted by sounds of alarms, students have to study in the basement. At night, they wake up to the sound of sirens and run to the basement again during the alarm.

When I asked them to rate their emotional level on a ten-point scale, some found that the result was zero or almost zero. It was an opportunity to work with their emotional states, I helped them to learn self-care skills, practical steps how to deal with panic attacks and how to help others. When we measured their emotional level at the end of the meeting, it was much higher.
Thank you for your prayers and for your faithfulness in supporting our ministry.

  1. Dear Lyuda,

May God give you strength and comfort during these hard days!

It is so good to see the progress of the refugee center.

Also, great to hear the students were encouraged by your visit to their class.

    Love in Christ,

    Jill

    Hallowed be Thy name

    Thy kingdom come

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven

Give us today our daily bread

Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who tresspass against us

    Lead us not into temptation

Deliver us from evil for Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
