From: Jamie Peipon (Missions Pastor First Presbyterian Church in Jackson, Miss): It was an unbelievable privilege for me to preach yesterday at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Kyiv, Ukraine (Євангельска Пресвітеріанська Церква “Святої Трійці”). This is the church in which I was first given small opportunities for ministry leadership. It is the church in which I learned a great deal of theology by translating the sermons of their faithful and wise pastor Ivan Bespalov. It was the first church in which I was given the opportunity to try out music ministry. It is the church where Dasha and I were married and where her dad was a ruling elder. It is an amazingly faithful congregation, even in the most challenging of circumstances, and it was a real joy and encouragement for me to be among them.
Despite the war, Ukraine remains one of the most religiously free countries in all of Europe and perhaps even the entire world. The fields are white with harvest, but the laborers are few!

J.R.R.Tolkien wrote to his son, Christopher
“..I sometimes feel appalled at the thought of the sum total of human misery all over the world at the present moment: the millions parted, fretting, wasting in unprofitable days — quite apart from torture, pain, death, bereavement, injustice…
All we do know, and that to a large extend by direct experience, is that evil labours with vast power and perpetual success –in vain: preparing always only the soil for unexpected good to sprout in…
And though we need all our natural human courage and guts (the vast sum of human courage and endurance is stupendous, isn’t it?) and all our religious faith to face the evil that may befall us (as it befalls others, if God wills) still we may pray and hope. I do.”
