4/29/2024 – These past two years have been a time of learning…

From: Ira Kapitonova (Day 795):

Let not your heart envy sinners, but continue in the fear of the LORD all the day.
Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.
Proverbs 23:17-18

These past two years have been a time of learning.
We keep learning not to postpone life until “after the war.” People still get married, have children, and do their best to appreciate every moment we are given. We are still trying to accept the fact that life will never be like it used to be, yet we have no idea what it will be like. Choosing to keep living against all odds takes effort.

Living in the uncertainty is one of the most difficult challenges for me. I love planning ahead. I prefer to have several alternatives in case things go wrong. I want to be prepared. This seems like a good quality until it leads you to the slippery slope of self-sufficiency and self-reliance.
The truth is, none of us knows what tomorrow will bring. None of us has any control over the future. We can choose to live in the deception of self-reliance or run to the One who holds the future in His hands.

  1. Ascension Sunday, 40 days after Resurrection Sunday

Acts 1- When He had spoken these things, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. While they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white, saying: “Men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus which is taken up into heaven shall so come, in like manner.”
