‭Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and uphold me with a willing spirit.
Psalm 51:12

It’s Easter night for many Christians in Ukraine who follow the Julian calendar. Traditionally, at the dawn of Easter Sunday, people would come to the church to hear the good news proclaimed, “Christ is Risen!”

Unfortunately, this year will be the third Easter when this tradition will be broken for many. Some churches have been destroyed, so there is no place to go. There are warnings about possible missile and terrorist attacks, so people are advised to avoid large gatherings. Right now, several drone groups are terrorizing the people of Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Tomorrow morning, Lord willing, we will greet each other, “Christ is risen!” yet we’ll be praying for more good news and the words we long to hear in Ukraine.
