6/5/2024 — We remember the children who became victims of the Russian aggression. I don’t know how we can measure these losses.

From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 832)

‭Give justice to the weak and the fatherless;
maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.”
Psalm 82:3-4

On June 4th, we remember the children who became victims of the Russian aggression. I don’t know how we can measure these losses.

At least 551 children have been killed by Russia since February 24, 2022 (164 of them were killed in Mariupol). Since the beginning of the Russian aggression in 2014, Russians have killed over 800 children.

The Save Ukraine organization managed to bring back six children from the occupation. Three of them saw their father getting killed in their yard during shelling.
In another family, the children witnessed their father being repeatedly tortured by the Russian soldiers. Because of this, their youngest son stopped talking.

These children will most likely never be mentioned in any statistics about the war losses, just like the children who spend sleepless nights worrying about their parents on the frontlines or the babies that were never born because of the war.

Lord, I know that you are not partial, and you execute justice for the fatherless and the widow. Your wrath is just and terrible for the lawless. Oh Lord, console the weeping and avenge for the innocent.

You shall not mistreat any widow or fatherless child. If you do mistreat them, and they cry out to me, I will surely hear their cry, and my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless. — Exodus 22:22-24

  1. Our Father in heaven

    Hallowed be Thy name

    Thy kingdom come

    Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven

    Give us today our daily bread

    Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us

    [we say it because You told us to. You know what we really feel]
