7/3/2024 — Underground schools are being built in preparation for new school year

From: Maia Mikhaluk (860th day) 🇺🇦 Ruzzia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine has devastated schools and kindergartens throughout our country. Since February 2022, over 3,790 educational facilities have been damaged or destroyed. Ukrainian children have paid a high price in this war because attacks on education are attacks on their future. Spending part of school day in a bomb shelter is more frequent than studying all day in the classroom.

Having ruzzia for a neighbor makes some post-apocalyptic books and movies pale in comparison. See photos in my post yesterday – they seem to show invaders’ maniacal drive to destroy.

In six regions of Ukraine (Kharkiv, Zaporizhia, Sumy, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Chernihiv) underground schools are being built in preparation for new school year. The first underground schools began to be built in Kharkiv, which is under constant enemy fire. It has 20 classrooms where 900 students will study in two shifts. Now there will be more such schools in other regions of Ukraine, especially those close to the front lines or the ruzzian border.

  1. Education is not our savior, though it may be our god.

    John 5:15-16

With amazement, the people asked: “How is it that this man is so literate [so informed of the scriptures], since he has never had training?”

Jesus therefore answered them, and said, ‘My teaching is not mine, but His that sent me.’

“I consider all things loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my lord, for Whom I have suffered the loss of all things and count them dung, that I may win Christ and be found in Him, not having any rightness of my own, by the law, no! Having God’s rightness, by trusting Christ!” Phil.3:8-9

  2. 6/23/2024 — Update from Belgorod Dnestrovsky

From: Lyuda Betina (Day 851): Today is a good and joyful day, we celebrate the day of the Holy Trinity (This is how we call the day of Pentecost). This day is joyful despite the sounds of alarm and blackouts, because the real joy is given by the Holy Spirit. Today’s sermon is about the Comforter (Paracletos) who is a faithful Witness, a Helper, an Advocate, and a Friend. I don’t know how we would survive this time of troubles and sorrow if we were not comforted by the Holy Spirit.

It’s summer the school year is over and children are having summer vacation. We do not have many kids in our church now, but those who come love the church and love Sunday school. We want to plan some special events for them this summer.

We can’t have big events, but we can plan some fun for them like ice cream day, gardening adventure, music competition, fairy tale characters party, etc. We love them very much and know their needs, we support their parents.

And we guide them on their journey with Christ. Each of them has their own needs and expectations. Their biggest wish is the end of the war.
