We live about 20 minutes from this hospital. During the attack, we sheltered in our bathroom. Briana asked if the explosions were thunder. Gently, we tried to explain to her what was happening, but it is hard for a child to comprehend the level of evil in the world. In an hour or so, we saw the news, the pictures, the videos, and details.
When the air raid ended, I took Briana to the playground that she wanted to go to. I took a picture of her on the nearly empty playground. I thought about the surrealism of what was happening. Here, Briana was playing on a peaceful playground, enjoying the day, and 20 minutes from us, rescuers were digging children out from under the rubble.

While she was playing, I continued reading the news, and messaging people to know if they were ok. In about 20 minutes, another air raid started. In a few more minutes, we heard a loud explosion, which sounded like it was right above us.
Unpunished evil grows. As long as this evil stays unpunished, more and more kids will be in danger. Please pray for Ukraine. And I know this is bold of me, but please remember us in your election season also.
This morning, our eastern neighbor attacked two hospitals, one of them being the largest children’s hospital of Ukraine. This hospital treats children with cancer and other life threatening and difficult conditions. The mothers who bring their children to this hospital are already dealing with immeasurable hardship. But today, they had to experience a whole new level of danger, when a guided missile intentionally hit the hospital they were in. This was not an accidental attack.

This is heartbreaking and I will certainly be remembering Ukraine when I vote in November. I pray for your country every day, and especially for your church members as you continue to stand firm in hope!
