9/8/2024 — Lord, guard our hearts and help us not become like those seeking to destroy us.

Vindicate me, O Lord,
for I have walked in my integrity,
and I have trusted in the Lord without wavering.
Psalm 26:1

Exhaustion took its toll on me. I don’t know if it’s the result of a full week at school, an expected outcome of a week with very little sleep because of air raids, or just the general emotional weariness that left me feeling wiped out today.

At night, Kyiv was once again attacked with kamikaze drones. Iran has been faithfully supplying those as well as operation instructors to Russia. Thankfully, there were no direct hits, but debris from the shot-down drones fell in several parts of the city. Sleep deprivation is known to be a tried and true torture of the past and must be part of Russia’s plan for Ukraine.

The Institute for the Study of War reports that Russian forces are increasingly executing surrendering Ukrainian soldiers throughout the frontline. It is likely in part because Russian commanders appear to be endorsing the proliferation of such war crimes.

I trust in the Lord’s justice and His vindication. He will establish His will, He will be gracious to the oppressed, but terror will fill those committing atrocities. On that day, they will fall to their knees, but it will be too late.
Lord, guard our hearts and help us not become like those seeking to destroy us.

  1. Yes, May God guard the hearts of Ukraine–that they would not repeat the atrocities happening to them. May God spare the Ukraine military!
