9/15/2024 — Evangelical Reformed Seminary of Ukraine begins new academic year

From: Clay Quarterman (Former ERSU President, MTW missionary) The seminary we began in 2000 continues its mighty work, even under fire! PRAY for Ukraine! PTL for these faithful friends! (Donations can be made at mtw.org/ukraine)

Dear Friends of ERSU,

Last Monday we started the new academic year with a joint opening and devotional (as is our usual practice each module [see pic below]) and with new students – Artem from Okhtyrka in the Sumy region, and Bohdan and Serhii from Lviv!

We had two excellent courses this past week – Biblical Greek – taught by Andrii Dylyuk for our new students, and Modern Church History, by Serhii Sudakov, who enriched our students not just with a great overview of the history, but gave our students a true taste of historical theology!

Despite nightly attacks and electrical outages the previous week in Kyiv, God blessed us with a pretty quiet week of lectures with no outages during class time.

Pray with us for a blessed and successful academic year and please pray also for our upcoming conference. On September 26 we hold our next free training conferences for pastors, church leaders and volunteers. We aim to equip the churches in Ukraine to counsel congregants and others dealing with the various forms of trauma experienced by people as a result of the war. This time we address the difficult topic of how to help people who’ve suffered from sexual violence. Please pray that God will bring those who will most benefit from attending! (Unfortunately, this topic though more specialized is relevant to anyone giving counsel to many of the Ukrainians, who have been under Russian occupation or captivity.)
