The Lord will keep you from all evil;
he will keep your life.
The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.
Psalm 121:7-8
We’ve had several days (and nights!) without air raids, which was nice. I came down with a fever on Sunday night, so going to bed, I knew I would not have the energy to move anywhere in the middle of the night. The Lord was gracious, and I’m already feeling better.
For a few weeks in a row, massive missile and drone attacks were carried out on Thursdays before dawn. There was nothing massive last week, and no one knows what tomorrow will bring. We make anxious jokes and mentally plan alternatives for the targeted morning.
Russian propaganda is spitting out more nuclear threats, and the US intelligence warns about massive attacks in the near future, but it’s no news. How would that attack be different from any other day? Yesterday, their missiles hit a private clinic in Zaporizhzhia, killing 9 people and injuring over 20. In the past few months, they have already targeted hospitals in Dnipro, Sumy, and Poltava. And I hope you remember the attack on the children’s hospital in the summer. Did you know that they worked on perfecting this strategy of destroying civil life in Syria? Russian troops participated in over 90% of attacks on Syrian hospitals, and that’s where they learned the “double strike” strategy, where the second missile hits the exact location slightly later after the first responders have arrived.
However, the defeat of evil is inevitable. It may still be a long way away, but its end is coming.
Come, Lord Jesus!
