12/15/2024 — What ruzzian occupiers are doing in this century is in many ways similar or sometimes worse than what Germans did.

From: Maia Mikhaluk in Kyiv (1025th day)

Reading about what is happening to Ukrainian schoolchildren during the occupation reminded me of the novel “Book Thief.” The novel was set in Nazi Germany. What ruzzian occupiers are doing in this century is in many ways similar or sometimes worse than what Germans did.

“1.6 million Ukrainian children are living in the temporarily occupied territories ( TOT). About 593 thousand of them study in local schools, which the occupiers are turning into laboratories for the processing of free Ukrainians into enslaved ruzzians. Parents are bribed and children are intimidated. In some places, the opposite is true. The educational program of the “ new government” is aimed at the extermination of everything Ukrainian.

All Ukrainian books were burned in a show of force. Ruzzians brought in new textbooks that were entirely in ruzzian language. Everything related to the history of the Cossacks, the tragedy of the Holodomor, etc. has been thrown out of these textbooks. Soviet leaders are heroized, and the so-called special military operation ( SVO) is sacralized. Children are told that you won’t need the Ukrainian language that Ukrainian history is false.

According to the statistics of the Ministry of Education and Science, as of early November, 44,171 boys and girls with TOT, in parallel with studying in the ruzzian education system, secretly continue their online course in Ukrainian schools. But this exact figure is approximate. After all, each of such children risks being exposed and punished. Therefore, even official statistics are not accurate.” (From NV (New Voice).

I can not imagine life under ruzzian occupation. During our trips with humanitarian aid to liberated areas we often hear that people left their homes and moved to other parts of Ukraine when ruzzians came and people only returned when their villages were liberated. But obviously, millions of people were not able to move…

  1. From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 1024 – 3949 days since the initial aggression)

Have mercy upon us, O Lord,
    have mercy upon us,
for we have had more than enough of contempt.
Our soul has had more than enough
of the scorn of those who are at ease,
of the contempt of the proud.
    Psalm 123:3-4

It was a heavy morning, contrasting with the bright sun in the sky (it was one of the few sunny days lately). The air raid that started last night lasted for over 15 hours. Several groups of drones came during the night. Missiles began arriving in the morning.

It was the most massive attack yet, which is expected – we’d had a few quiet days and the temperature drop this weekend creates a perfect opportunity for an attack on our power grid. Thankfully, Kyiv was mostly unaffected, so we managed to get to school. Life was filled with busyness and bright colors again, but we were still pretty shaken after such a morning, expecting extended blackouts as the first power outage of the day lasted 7 hours.
During the lunch break, I sat down to check the statistics of the morning attack. And my heart started singing with joy! Just listen to this!

Russia launched 193 drones, but only 2 (only 1%!) caused damage. The rest were shot down or diverted by our air defense and electronic countermeasure (ECM). They launched 94 missiles, and 81 (92%) were shot down. This success rate is unbelievable and is a reassurance of God’s protection over Ukraine. Can you imagine if even half of what was launched hit the targets? And can you imagine the frustration of those sending those insanely expensive flying death carriers? I won’t be surprised if they try to re-attempt it in the next few days.

Meanwhile, we’ll keep trusting the Lord. As our son gets older, he starts asking more questions, and answers to those are hard. Lord, help us to be able to give good answers and help us mean it. Superficial “proper religious answers” won’t stand the test in times like these. Help us show You, and help us be a good testimony.
