From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 1060)
Arise, O Lord;
O God, lift up your hand;
forget not the afflicted.
Break the arm of the wicked and evildoer;
call his wickedness to account till you find none.
Psalm 10:12, 15
The past few days had some intense attacks.
Early on Saturday morning, Russia attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles. Even though shut down, they exploded and killed three people, damaging a metro station and several buildings nearby. Even though it’s far from where we live now, it’s a 20-minute walk from the education center where I used to work and several hospitals. This area has been hit before, but it looks like this strike caused the most damage.
On Friday, Russian missiles attacked Kryvyi Rih, damaging residential quarters and killing 4 people. I was struck by a tragic story of a man who lost his first wife in occupied Kherson in 2022, moved to Kryvyi Rih along with his three kids, and remarried. On Friday, he lost his second wife to a missile attack while on the way to the store. It’s so cruel that these children had to lose their mother again because of the same enemy.
I know that the purpose of these strikes is terror. I myself go through phases, swinging like a pendulum from fear to almost valiance in both physical and spiritual matters. I cannot wait for the Lord to stop this madness and restore His justice.
O Lord, you hear the desire of the afflicted;
you will strengthen their heart;
you will incline your ear
to do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed,
so that man who is of the earth may strike terror no more.
Psalm 10:17-18
