From: Maia Mikhaluk in Kyiv (1136th day) — The only way ruzzia can win is with help from Trump. Let’s be clear: Ukraine is not losing. And ruzzia is not winning. Remember: they invaded with the plan to take Kyiv in 3 days. Today is Day 1136 of big invasion but it’s been really 11 years since the beginning of ruzzian aggression in March 2014. Their “invincible” army? They keep mobilizing, we keep grinding down their troops. They’ve lost 920,950 troops — dead (250,000) or wounded. Their tanks? Burned out – according to our count, 10,528. Does this look like ruzzians are winning?
Ukraine — smaller in size, smaller in population — stood up to the second-largest army in the world and stopped it and pushed it back. That’s not losing. That’s historic!
While brave Ukrainians keep holding the line, Trump continues to parrot putin’s lies — telling the world ruzzia “can’t be beaten” and “putin wants peace.” Putin is not showing any interest in peace. Quite the opposite — he just announced the biggest mobilization yet: 160,000 new troops. Drone attacks on Ukraine increased significantly during the past 3 months. It seems putin is playing Trump like a fiddle.
And yet Trump still believes in putin’s lies about wanting peace over U.S. intelligence and ignoring the facts on the ground. According to the latest analysis by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) and the U.S. Intelligence Community, ruzzia is using talk of ceasefires and negotiations not to make peace — but to buy time, seize more Ukrainian territory, and eventually install a puppet government in Kyiv. The kremlin is openly counting on Trump to give them concessions. But even if they don’t get them, they are fully prepared to continue the war, pushing for Ukraine’s complete capitulation.
As the ODNI’s 2025 threat forecast warns:
- putin is ready to pay a very high price to win what he sees as a historic showdown with the West.
- ruzzia has suffered huge military and economic losses — but putin’s determination to dominate Ukraine and reshape history is only growing.
- Negotiations are being weaponized to extract more concessions from Ukraine and the West — not to end the war.
Some of my friends on FB tell me that Trump’s negotiations are our only hope for ending the war; if we could win we would have done it already. But all this time we have been fighting with our hands tied down. Our allies helped us with weapons often with huge delays and even then they limited use of those weapons to make sure we couldn’t hurt ruzzia.
When Ukraine sank the ruzzian flagman ship Moskva, Washington wasn’t cheering — they were outraged we didn’t “ask permission.” Imagine that — asking for permission to strike your enemies in your own war. And now some of those same voices tell us we are “too weak” to win? During another Ukrainian attack on ruzzian military fleet Elon Musk disabled Starlinks which left our sea drones blind. There were times when it felt like our allies really care more about ruzzia not being hurt than Ukraine pushing invaders back to their land.
Yes, we have been struggling. But struggle is not defeat. Struggle means we are still standing, fighting, and refusing to give up. And we’ve stopped the ruzzia army. They cannot advance. They are desperate for deals they couldn’t win by force.
What Ukraine needs now is not fear-driven diplomacy or pseudo-peace talks that hand Putin victories he couldn’t win on the battlefield. What we need is support to win—to push the invaders out, free our homes, and bring real peace based on justice, not surrender.
