4/5/2025 — I don’t even have it in me to add a Bible verse to today’s post…

From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 1136)

I don’t even have it in me to add a Bible verse to today’s post.

Tonight, on a lovely spring Friday evening, russia launched a ballistic missile on Kryvyi Rih. It hit a busy playground, killing six children and 10 adults. Over 40 people have been seriously wounded. Two kids are reported to be in a hospital in critical condition. There is a video footage of parents gently stroking the hand of their killed child.
It was a nice spring Friday evening.
And as if it wasn’t enough, just hours after that, there are more explosions in the city as russia continues its attack, but this time it is with drones.

I don’t know how to address the world. How can you grasp this cruelty? It is unfathomable that things like this happen in our world today. However, it is true. And this evil has a name.

So my plea is do not let your hearts get calloused. Lament before the Lord with us.
“Don’t just tear your clothes to show how sad you are. Let your hearts be broken” (Joel 2:13, NIRV)

Yes, King David was a professional, seasoned in battles, a warrior. He knew how important and necessary quality, high-tech and high-precision weapons were in war. He knew the price of a gun and used it for a direct purpose. But at the same time, he, a professional warrior, understood one more important thing – “The king will not be protected by a great army, and the giant will not save his mighty power.” A horse is hopeless for salvation – his great power will not save. But the eyes of the Lord are upon them that fear him, who put their hope in his mercy to save their souls from death, to feed them in hunger. Our soul waits for the Lord, for he is our help and defender, –
In Him our heart will cheer, and in His holy name we put our hope. Lord, let your mercy be upon us, because we put our hope in you, Psalm 32:16-22 (Translated by R. Turkonyaka).
