From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 1160)
He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered;
the Lord is gracious and merciful.
He provides food for those who fear him;
he remembers his covenant forever.
Psalm 111:4-5
After last week’s ballistic missile attack on Kyiv, I felt extra anxious to get the kids to the basement during an air raid today. Thankfully, nothing reached Kyiv.
Amid this chaos and anxiety, we keep living our lives.
It’s Fun Week at school this week, so today, everyone came with crazy hairstyles. It was one more reason to smile.
On Saturday, our school’s annual Easter picnic was a wonderful time of fellowship undisturbed by the sirens. It was one more reason to thank God for His faithfulness.
Our school worship team played several songs at the picnic, and one of them felt like an earnest prayer that each of us petitioned God with. It was “See A Victory,” and in a Ukrainian translation, the lines “You take what the enemy meant for evil, And you turn it for good” sound more like a supplication than a statement. Our voices sounded like one as we begged God to intervene by His mercy. It was one more reason to be reminded of the awe God deserves.
One response to “4/29/2025 — He has caused his wondrous works to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and merciful.”
Ira- Your faith encourages me as I struggle with the choices of my American president. As I read the psalms I am continually reminded to pray for Ukraine. May God’s promises to avenge the enemy be realized soon.
