6/6/2025 — Absurd? Horror? Outrage?…

From: Mariia Mykhaliyk in Kyiv (1199th day)

Last night, Ukraine endured a record-breaking wave of ruzzian missile and drone attacks – ruzzian terrorists attacked us with 452 missiles and drones. It was one of the loudest, most sleepless nights of this brutal war.

I wasn’t home — and not knowing how my family was affected made it even harder to bear.

At the same time, Trump’s social media posts and press conference comments prior to the attack sent a chilling message. He essentially gave putin a green light to escalate. In Trump’s mind, Ukraine striking military targets — specifically ruzzian warplanes used to bomb us — somehow justifies putin’s retaliation with a massive attack on civilian areas. And he compares this to “kids fighting in the park”?

No condemnation of terror. No threats of sanctions. Instead, Trump talks to Putin right before the attack — and then shrugs off the civilian suffering that followed.

Is this leadership? What happened to the promises to hold ruzzia accountable, to pressure them with stronger sanctions if they continued their war crimes? What happened to standing with a nation defending its sovereignty and its people?

I want to add a quote from Volodymyr Dyba’s post that I totally agree with: “If Americans were to ask me why Ukrainians are outraged by Trump’s “good conversation” with Putin, where they supposedly discussed “retaliatory strikes” on Ukraine, my answer would be this: Imagine President Zelensky calling Osama bin Laden to discuss the latest US operations against al-Qaeda in Afghanistan. In response, bin Laden says he is planning a new 9/11. And Zelensky nods in understanding and calls the conversation “good.”

Absurd? Horror? Outrage?
That’s exactly how we feel when we hear about Trump’s “good conversation” with a man who gives orders to bomb Ukrainian cities and kill civilians every day.”
