Israel is prepared to welcome Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at any time and still hopes his long-delayed visit will happen, Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine Michael Brodsky told RBC-Ukraine on July 7.

Brodsky said Zelenskyy had originally planned to visit Israel at the end of 2023, but the trip was postponed.

“We hope it will take place. We’re ready to host Zelenskyy at any moment. The decision is up to him. For now, there are no specific dates,” Brodsky said.

He also noted that visits by Hasidic pilgrims to Ukraine “went smoothly during the war.”

“We must give credit to Ukraine’s law enforcement — the police and representatives of the State Border Guard Service — who did everything to ensure the pilgrimage was peaceful. I hope this year will go the same way,” he added.

According to Brodsky, the number of pilgrims this year is expected to be at least the same as last year — and possibly even higher.

Brodsky previously stated that Israel has, in fact, transferred weapons to Ukraine, despite the widespread belief that Tel Aviv has withheld military aid.

On May 4, the New York Times, citing current and former U.S. officials, reported that Ukraine could receive two more Patriot air defense systems — one of them from Israel.
