Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has signed a new package of sanctions aimed at disrupting Russia’s financial schemes, including the use of cryptocurrency. He announced the move in a video address posted on his Telegram channel.
Zelenskyy said the sanctions were imposed at the request of Ukraine’s National Bank and reflect both a domestic initiative and coordination with international partners.
“Just through one company — now on the sanctions list — and only since the beginning of this year, meaning before sanctions were in place, the Russians moved several billion dollars, mostly for the needs of their military-industrial complex,” Zelenskyy said.
